CCR Plan

How do your products use or challenge conventions and how do they represent social groups or issues?

Mise en scene: I made sure it was vital to keep the continuity when filming my opening sequence. For the set, I made continuity with props, furniture, and any decor was following and keeping with-in continuity so that there wouldn’t be anything out of place. Costuming was the same as well as hairstyle so that it matched other shots taken during the production process. I did this to focus the idea more on my character and the beginning of the plot instead of out-of-place objects. There is not so much a social group or issue. It mainly and plainly shows a teenage boy waking up and being lazy ( hence the 11am wakeup) and slowly moves to get ready for school. Cinematography: Through the use of different shots such as close-up on the bread, and bowl of fruit… It shows the main character eating a breakfast meal, to show it is morning and convey him getting ready to go to school. No establishing shot was shown, it seemed useless to the plot because the film was focusing on the boy, and an establishing shot of the house may emphasize the whole family dynamic. Editing: Because of the normal pacing, It shows that the main character is not rushing, as most title sequences may have faster pacing with their character rushing for school. Sound: The sound used was mellow and not so upbeat. I did that to create a soft, calm environment, which really emphasizes the character’s characteristics of being simplistic and very calm during my title sequence. (just going with the flow). Titles: The title overall completes the simplistic view of the opening of the film. I like that It is lowercase ‘b’ so that it is unique and stands out among other film titles. Most titles are longer or have uppercase lettering. So, I decided to do the exact opposite with “boy”.

How do your products engage with the audience and how would they be distributed as real media products?

I used the production company A24 because of its known for unique and outstanding films. They aren't huge, but they do match what kind of film I am going for.

I believe that A24 will exhibit my movie straight to Blu-ray or DVD, things such as streaming platforms it would go to as well.

My target audience is teen to young adults. This is because of my character’s age being teen and the themes that will be portrayed in my film. Connections to themes and characters will be made with this range of age because of similar age and realistic themes in the film.

How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

At the beginning of this class, I had no knowledge of cinematography and camera angles especially. Now that I have understood the many aspects of filmmaking, I have become better at not only vocabulary, but putting the vocabulary into action and creating an opening to a film.

I learned about the stages of pre-production, production, and post production and the roles in each (will be explained in CCR video).

[Talk about planning, drafting, directing, shooting, revising, editing, sound, etc. as applicable.]

(show music video) (show final film opening)

How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?

I used Nikon D3500 and iMovie to create my film opening.

I learned different video settings for the D3500 and how it better captures light in different settings. For iMovie, I learned how to fade sound in and out, and stabilize shaky video clips for better viewing.

(Show “before and after” examples)

(Use picture and video evidence)

(Be specific about settings used, etc)
